Report of the Induction Programme of the Department of Sociology, 2024

 

An Induction programme for the B.A. 1^st Semester major students was organised by the Dept of Sociology on 06/08/2024. A total of 16. Students participated in the Induction programme at Room no.07.

The objective of the Induction Programme is to introduce students to the discipline of Sociology and its scope, to familiarise students with the curriculum, faculty, and academic environment, and to highlight career prospects and the practical relevance of sociology.

            The programme started with the welcome address by the head of the Department, Mr Rupak Kr. Borgohain. It was followed by the introduction of the faculty members and the newly admitted students. After that, the Head of the Department delivered a talk on ‘Why study Sociology,’ highlighting the meaning, scope, and importance of sociology in the modern world. The overview of the Curriculum was made by the teacher, Mrs Mandira Buragohain. She explained about content of the syllabus, the credit system, the teaching method, and the process of internal evaluation and assessment.

A briefing on the college rules, responsibilities of students, and ethical practices was given by the Head of the Department. At the end of the programme, the head of the Department wished the students for their best academic journey in the college and thanked all for their presence in the programme.
